Such “Were” Some Of You – Rhapsody Of Realities TeeVo Devotional July 19th

(Realise That You’ve Been Washed By God’s Word)

TO THE BIBLE: 1 Corinthians 6:11
“And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”

LET’S TALK
“Why do I still feel the same way I did after you led me to Christ just now? I still feel guilty about what I did last night,” Natalie asked Joanna who had just shared the Gospel with her.

“Oh, don’t worry about how you feel; what’s important is that you’ve believed the Gospel and you’ve declared the Lordship of Jesus over your life.

Now that you are born again, you have been washed from all of your sins; the past life is gone completely, and you’re a new creation in Christ Jesus.”

The Apostle Paul, in the eleventh verse of 1 Corinthians 6, makes a striking statement to establish the present state of the Corinthian Christians, emphasising that they were washed, sanctified and justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Read the opening scripture again and observe what the Holy Spirit communicates through Paul; He didn’t say, “Such are some of you”; rather, He said, “And such were some of you,” referring to the unrighteous characters listed in verses 9 and 10.

But how were they washed by the Spirit? Through the Word! In John 15:3, the Lord Jesus, addressing His disciples said, “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.”

He purified them by His Word. As He spoke His words of sanctification and righteousness to them while they listened, they were purified. Praise God!

The same thing happens today as we share the Word of God; as the people listen, their hearts are purified from all unrighteousness.

Many have testified that as they listened to us share the Word of God or as they meditated on the scriptures, suddenly, they seemed to have been transported in the spirit. They felt enraptured in God’s bliss and love.

The Word got rid of everything unwholesome, unpleasant or unclean. How wonderful! We’re made pure by the Word. Hallelujah!
