(How To Receive Salvation)
TO THE BIBLE: Romans 10:9
“That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
LET’S TALK
After their music class, Jane talked to Fred about Jesus and asked him if he would like to receive salvation.
“I already believe in Jesus,” Fred said.
“But it’s not enough to just believe,” Jane replied. “You’ve got to speak what you believe as well.”
Today, our opening scripture reveals the basic requirement to receive salvation. Anyone desirous of salvation must believe that God raised Jesus from the dead, and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord over his or her life. No one can be born again by merely wishing, thinking, or believing it.
The reason for this is simple: Jesus consciously did something to become our Saviour and Lord. He fulfilled the righteous demands of justice that made salvation possible for all mankind.
Therefore, to be born again, you have to consciously confess the Lordship of Jesus over your life; you’ll have to say: “I believe in my heart that God raised Jesus from the dead; I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord of my life.” This confession is key to salvation.
It doesn’t matter that you’re the ‘nicest’ guy or girl around. You can’t trust in your good deeds to save you. The words of Jesus in John 3:7 when He said, “You must be born again,” weren’t a cliché.
You’ve got to “receive” (Greek: lambano) or “take hold of” the eternal life that Christ has brought. How? By confessing His Lordship.

Pray:
Dear Father, I thank you for your great love towards me and the demonstration of this love by sending Jesus Christ to die in my stead. I declare with my mouth that He’s the Lord of my life and the captain of my soul. In Him I live and move and have my being. Amen.
