(Study And Know God’s Word For Yourself)
TO THE BIBLE: Acts 20:32 NIV
“Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”
LET’S TALK
When you study God’s Word, the wisdom to deal wisely in life’s affairs and to appropriate the benefits of salvation will function in you. Apostle Paul penned some very inspiring and instructive words in his letter to Timothy, a young man who was nurtured in the Scriptures from his childhood: “And that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15).
What a striking thought this is, that the scriptures are able to make you wise! Paul pointed this out to young Timothy. If the scriptures were able to make Timothy wise, they’re able to make anyone else who imbibes them wise; they’ll impart to you the wisdom that’s consistent with the salvation of God, not the wisdom of this world.
If the Holy Scriptures are able to make you wise, and are profitable for doctrine, reproof, and instruction in righteousness, won’t it be smart for anyone to study them voraciously (2 Timothy 3:16-17)? So, study and know the Scriptures for yourself. Ingest the Word, and drive it down deep into your spirit by meditation.
Paul charged Timothy, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). Study the Word meditatively, and the Holy Spirit will illuminate your spirit with amazing revelations.
2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” Through the scriptures, you acquire a peculiar way of life; your spirit is cultured in a certain direction, and you develop the mindset of the righteous.
