(You’re Perfect In Christ Jesus)
TO THE BIBLE: Hebrews 12:2
“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…”
LET’S TALK
Ronnie grew up hearing his parents and older siblings make comments like: “No one is perfect”; “I’m just an ordinary man”; ”To err is human.” And so he grew up accepting that he was imperfect. However, the truth is that in Christ, you’ve been made perfect.
Colossians 2:10 says, “…you are complete in Him….” You were perfected in Him the moment you were born again. Therefore, see yourself in Him as perfect as He is. Don’t look at yourself as just you; look at yourself in Him. If you trust in yourself, you could be overwhelmed by all your perceived shortcomings and inadequacies.
Jesus died for you and was raised back to life for your justification—now you’ve been declared righteous. All He’s asking of you now is to fix your gaze on these realities in His Word; accept what He’s done. As you accept these legal realities, they become vitally resultant in your spirit.
The Greek word translated “looking” in our opening verse actually means “to turn your eyes away from other things and fix them on something.” This means taking your gaze away from everything else and fixing it on Jesus; don’t turn away to the left or to the right.
This is reminiscent of the instruction God gave the children of Israel in the wilderness to look up at the bronze serpent on the pole. The Bible records that as many as gazed up at that bronze serpent, away from their predicament, lived (Numbers 21:6-9).
Now, that serpent on the pole was symbolic of Christ hanging on the cross. The Bible says, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:14-15).
He is light and life personified. So, keep your focus on Him, and you’ll never walk in darkness. Look away from every distraction, unto Him! If you’ve been distracted by sickness, poverty, failure, etc., look away from all of that to Jesus, He’s perfected you. See your health, victory, and dominion in Him.

Dear Father, I thank you for the opportunity to serve you in your Kingdom. I give myself completely to the influence and guidance of the Holy Spirit at all times, for the purifying and setting apart of all that I do in service to you, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
