PHOTIZO

“The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple” (Psalm 119:130).

Interestingly, in this verse, the Greek Septuagint uses the word “Photizo,” which means to illuminate, to flood with light, or to turn on the light in your heart.

Therefore, the verse should read, “The entrance of your words floods with light….” It’s akin to the Spirit’s prayer through the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 1:17-18 which says “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened….”

The Greek word translated as “enlightened” is “photizo,” which means He prays that the eyes of your spirit will be flooded with light and that the light in your heart will be turned on.

As you allow God’s Word into your heart through diligent study and constant meditation, your heart is flooded with light.

Even now, as you’re studying God’s Word in this devotional, something is happening in your spirit. Your spiritual eyes are being flooded with light; they’re being enlightened to see and apprehend the realities of our heavenly Kingdom.
