Are You A Hothead? – Rhapsody Of Realities TeeVo Devotional May 29th

(Protect Your Heart From Anger)

TO THE BIBLE: Proverbs 22:24-25 GNB
“Don’t make friends with people who have hot, violent tempers. You might learn their habits and not be able to change.”

LET’S TALK
Terry came home in a hurry one hot afternoon from school, slamming the door behind him. His mother, watching him as he barged in, asked him how school was, and he snapped at her thus: “What do you think? You’re the one who forgot to come get me!”

“Listen here, young man, I’ll not tolerate such negativity in this house! Since you became friends with that boy from next door, you’ve picked up his angry attitude, and I won’t have it! Drop the attitude fast!”

“I’m sorry, Mom; I’m just tired from my day at school,” Terry replied genuinely.

There are those who can’t control their temper. Little things enrage them and cause them to act in ways unbecoming of a Christian. The only solution for such people is to re-culture themselves with the Word.

The Scriptures admonish that you shouldn’t make friends with an angry person, lest you learn his ways. You don’t need anger in your life.

Many use anger to intimidate and terrorise others, and that’s wrong. God says, “Don’t do it.”

When you speak harshly and angrily to people, you may think you’re making them unhappy, but in the real sense of the word, you’re making yourself unhappy. When others offend you, be quick to let go.

The Bible says: “If you are angry, don’t sin by nursing your grudge. Don’t let the sun go down with you still angry—get over it quickly; for when you are angry, you give a mighty foothold to the devil” (Ephesians 4:26-27 TLB).

Protect your heart from anger. Keep bitterness, malice, and hatred away from you. Walk in love. If you’ve been given to quick, unrestrained anger, it’s time to call yourself to order.

Meditate on the Word; confess the Word over your temperament, and become kind, full of love, patient, and self-controlled.
