Rhapsody Of Realities TeeVo Devotional December 26th – Take No Thought

(Trust The Lord To Take Care Of You)

TO THE BIBLE: Philippians 4:6-7
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

LET’S TALK
Thoughts come to us all the time. Sometimes, it’s about something that happened in the past or something we’re expecting to happen in future. It could be thoughts about our loved ones, education, health, finances…anything going through our mind at any point in time.

The word “anxious” in Philippians 4:6 is translated from the Greek word “Merimnao,” which means “to take thought.” It connotes centering your mind on something in such a way as to become concerned about it. Often, it refers to taking a thought that draws us away from what should be our focus.

When our minds are bombarded with thoughts, the tendency is for us to “take” one or more of such thoughts, and ruminate or brood over them. This leads to worry, and God never wants us to worry.

When you allow yourself to be worried over anything, those thoughts draw you away and get you distracted. This is why you must say “No!” to negative thoughts that make you worry.

In Matthew 6:25-26; Jesus said, “…do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on… Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them….”

Stop worrying about what you’re going to eat, drink, or wear. That’s what the people of the world pursue, but your heavenly Father knows you need them. Like the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, trust the Lord to take care of you.
