(Be Specific In Your Requests To God)

TO THE BIBLE: Mark 11:23
“For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,” and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”

LET’S TALK
It was Annie’s eighteenth birthday, and she just couldn’t contain her ecstasy. Around her cake lay a beautiful array of gifts in colourful wrappers and ribbons. But she was eager to open the little box that looked like a cell phone pack, with the inscription “From Daddy.”

She had told her dad a few weeks back that she’d love to have a new phone. When she finally unwrapped the box, she found it was a phone indeed but not the brand she really wanted. She was almost disappointed, but the sheer joy of being loved and turning eighteen was just so overwhelming.

Annie hadn’t been specific when she told her dad she wanted a smartphone. As a result, she didn’t quite get what she wanted.

Likewise, some Christians pray and say, “O Lord, I just want you to bless me,” without being specific as to exactly what blessing they’re asking the Lord for.

God desires to answer your prayers, but He also wants you to know when He does, and this is why He wants you to be specific when making requests in prayer.

Remember the Lord Jesus said in Mark 11:23, “…whoever says to this mountain…” not “a mountain,” emphasising that there ought to be some specificity.

Therefore, in making requests in prayer, give the specs of what you want; be exact, and believe that you’ll have whatever you say.
