(Discover Who You Really Are In Christ Through The Word)
TO THE BIBLE: Romans 12:2
“…Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
LET’S TALK
Malachi had given a prophecy to let the people of Israel know when the Messiah would be revealed; he said Elijah was to precede the Messiah (Malachi 4:5-6).
Thus, when the Lord Jesus came, the Scribes used this prophecy to refute the messiahship of Jesus; they were carnal and had thought wrong!
Befuddled by this, the disciples Peter, James, and John, who later saw Elijah talking with the Lord on the Mount of Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-3), asked: “…Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” (Matthew 17:10).
To their amazement, Jesus confirmed what the Scribes had said about Elijah preceding Him. However, He added, “…But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him but did to him whatever they wished.
Likewise the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands” (Matthew 17:12). The Bible says, “Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist” (Matthew 17:13).
Elijah had already come but the Scribes didn’t know it because they were looking at the Word naturally and in the flesh! There’re many Christians who are like those Scribes today!
All that they dream, hope, and pray for with all of their struggles to be and have all God’s planned for them, they already are and have but they just don’t know it!
This is why you’ve got to know God’s Word for yourself, because His Word renews your mind and enlightens you to know what your identity and heritage in Christ is.
Christ is in you, and you’re in Christ; nothing could be greater or better than that! Come to the full realisation that as He is, so are you in this world (1 John 4:17).
You’re His righteousness, the expression of all the perfect things that are consistent with His nature—His goodness, kindness, love, humility, and excellence!
And it’s only through the Scriptures, and by God’s Spirit, that you discover what God has already made you and granted you in Christ. Hallelujah!
