TO THE BIBLE: Ephesians 4:23-24
“…Be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”
LET’S TALK
“So, Tim thinks he can just quit on us like that; we all know what he did last week with Ian,” Becky fumed when she heard Tim said he was no longer a part of “The Clique.”
What she didn’t understand was that Tim encountered the Lord at a birthday party the previous weekend, received Christ and got filled with the Holy Spirit. He wasn’t the same old Tim; he had a new identity.
When you were born again, you were recreated in righteousness and true holiness. Unlike the unregenerate man, you’re fully awakened to the fact that God is now your Father; you’re alive to Him.
1 John 3:2 says, “Beloved, now we are children of God….” You’re in a sonship relationship with the Lord; you’re born of Him.
That’s the meaning of 1 John 4:4: “You are of God, little children…”; you hail from Him; your origin is in Him. Hallelujah!
Peter calls us partakers of the divine nature (associates of the God-kind). You’ve put on the God-nature, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of God that created you (Colossians 3:10).
This is your true identity. Walk in this light. You’re not the same person you were before you were born again.
That’s why the Bible says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV). The old sin-nature was completely replaced with God’s life of righteousness.
People may still associate you with some of the wrong things you did before you were born again, but the truth is the person that did those things doesn’t exist anymore.
What the Bible says about you now is that you are washed, sanctified, justified, in the Name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God (1 Corinthians 6:11). Hallelujah!

Dear Father, I thank you for my new nature and identity in Christ; I’ve been washed, sanctified, justified, in the Name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Holy Spirit. I walk in the reality of the new life of righteousness, which I’ve received in Christ, producing fruits and works of righteousness, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
