(Righteousness—A Gift For Everyone In Today’s World)
TO THE BIBLE: 2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
LET’S TALK
“Hey Stella, did you know that God sees you righteous as Jesus is today?”
“Elizabeth, please stop with that! I know what I did last night, so how could you say, ‘God sees me righteous?’ You don’t know me that well to say such things.”
“Oh, but it’s true, Stella! Out of love for us, God sent Jesus, His Son, to take our place of sin on the Cross while we got righteousness as a gift. You’ve got it now and you’ve got to activate it by faith!”
Righteousness is one of the three cardinal gifts of God, and it was offered to the whole world.
The gift of righteousness is for all men. Righteousness is the nature of God that gives you right standing with God, and the nature to do right.
You might argue, “Why then does the Bible say, ‘As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one?’” (Romans 3:10). That’s the reason Jesus came, suffered, and died for every man, woman, boy, and girl.
He came into this world to make righteous creations out of unrighteous man. He died once so that every man who previously was unrighteous could believe in Him and become righteous.
Romans 10:10 NIV says, “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
Legally speaking, every sinner in the world, including the atheist, has already been made righteous.
However, because they haven’t activated the life of righteousness by being born again, they can’t experience the vital realities of the life of righteousness.
It’s the reason we preach the Gospel; the world needs to know that the death and resurrection of Jesus has freed them all from the bondage of sin.
Today, righteousness is available in Christ Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (NIV).
Now that you’re born again, you’ve been brought into a new life of righteousness: “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).
This is your new nature in Christ; an intimate relationship with God is now possible. Hallelujah!

Pray:
Righteous Father, I thank you for giving me your righteousness, and granting me the ability to boldly stand before you without guilt, condemnation, inferiority or blame. I’m righteousness-conscious. I reign in righteousness; I reign over circumstances and the elements of this world, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
